The Hyundai Kona Is Gonna Come, Taking Orders Now

Two years after Hyundai Sime-Darby Motors showed the Hyundai Kona on our shores, the company has finally decided to bring it in. Better late than never, the Kona will parachute into a highly-contested segment populated by the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 and Toyota CH-R. Not deterred by the upcoming launch of the Proton X50 into the same segment, HSDM has begun taking orders for the Kona.

The price for the Hyundai Kona will be set between RM110,000.00 to RM119,999.99. For the price, the Kona will be fitted with seven-inch infotainment floating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Hyundai Smart Sense, HUD and wireless device charging. Contrast stitching on the steering and seats, and colourful seatbelts are among the interior’s highlights. LED headlight, twilight and DRL will be among the standout feature of the exterior.

Hyundai did not confirm the engine that will power the SUV, but we expect it to have either the 1.6-litre turbo or the 2.0-litre MPI engine. We won’t be shocked if the Kona will be offered with both engines depending on the trim and variant. The Kona will be fully imported from Korea and will make landfall in at the tail-end of 2020.
