Mitsubishi Starts Deliveries Of Xpander - Good For Early Adopters, Not So Much For Latecomers

The motoring mavericks that bucked the trend of booking the X50 and signed on for the Mitsubishi Xpander will be getting their vehicles soon. Mitsubishi’s baby SUV will come directly from an assembly line designed to birth 6,000 Xpanders annually from the HICOM plant in Pekan, Pahang. Since its introduction, Mitsubishi Malaysia has collected over 2,000 bookings for the Xpander.

At the time of writing, the plant has surpassed the year’s total production capacity. This means that if you book the Mitsubishi Xpander today, you will be booking an MY2021 vehicle, which is subjected to the sales tax. The Xpander’s current tax-free price is RM91,359 jump to RM94,800 next year. The price increase isn’t outrageous and near negligent when you factor in the loan tenure.

The Xpander is a popular vehicle in Indonesia, moving 270,000 units at end September 2020 since its launch. It is still early days for the SUV in Malaysia, but if initial indications are anything to go by, the Mitsubishi Xpander will soon be a household name.
