“I love the scent of petrol and burning rubber in the morning.” Well, if you’re one of those guys have we got a promising proposition for you. It’s time for you to put your money where your mouth is, or maybe your nose… and get the new Formula One perfume.
Yes, you can now smell like Formula One but we can’t promise if it’ll actually impress anyone but your pride. The timing couldn’t be more perfect as well seeing that Christmas is just around the corner.
Unfortunately, the five-strong range will only be available from March 2020 onwards. However, if you desperately need to smell like Formula One at your office Christmas party for reasons we aren’t concerning ourselves with, a limited-edition run was available at the Abu Dhabi grand prix last weekend.
The price for exclusivity stays true to Formula One as well with the limited-edition bottles going for a whopping £7750 (RM42,000). No, that’s not a typo. Why does it cost the price of a car? Well, the press release so eloquently phrased it as “having been specifically inspired by the world of Formula 1, uniting technology and dynamism with heritage and storytelling.”
There’ll be five scents in total and the entire range is the result of a collaboration with Designer Parfums but only three for the limited-edition run. The latter also neglected to put any thought in the names of the scents and we’re left with snooze-inducing names such as ‘Agile Embrace’ that’s “based upon principles of form created from flow”; ‘Fluid Symmetry’ is “derived from the evolving organic lines of the cars aerodynamic design” and ‘Compact Suspension’ apparently “references the engineering of advanced innovative structures.”
When the complete range is released next year, pricing will be much more logical with a bottle going for about RM1,000 each.
We just hope they come up come cooler names for the fragrance.
