Getting excited about movies in which cars are the real silver screen sirens is something that happens too often in this line of work and we’re not embarrassed to admit it. Those very movies are also responsible for us typing out a series of words we’d never otherwise imagine having to utter in the name of work.
You can blame the utter ridiculousness of the “Fast & Furious” franchise for that but today, it’s the latest installment in the James Bond franchise that sees us having to put “machine gun” and “donuts” together.
The latest 007 movie; No Time to Die, just had its trailer released and it leaves the best for last as see Bond’s bulletproof Aston Martin DB5 sprout machine guns from its headlights before burning the rear wheels to spray bullets in a circular motion and take out the baddies. Can’t think of a better farewell gift as this also marks Daniel Craig’s last outing as the womanising superspy.
Even though the more modern incarnations of Astons have been the main mode of transportation for Bond in the recent movies (remember the Aston Martin Vanish), the classic DB5 was always his personal vehicle. It first appeared in 1964’s Goldfinger.
Excitingly, it won’t be the only Aston in the latest movie. You’ll have noticed Bond in the 1980s V8 Coupe that starred in 1987’s The Living Daylights as well as the DBS Superleggera driven by another 00 agent (Lashana Lynch from Captain Marvel). Lastly, Aston confirmed its upcoming Valhalla hypercar will make its silver screen debut as well.
No Time to Die is the 25th Bond movie and will release locally in April 2020. Never forget too, it’s the movie that put the words “Aston Martin machine gun donuts” together.
