We have plenty of Malaysians doing super extraordinary things around the world:
And one of them is about to wow the world through her story-telling, and we couldn't be any prouder.
An epic adventure
The House of Mouse has just provided us with a first look at their upcoming animated movie 'Raya And The Last Dragon'.
Inspired by Southeast Asia (and probably a lot of Malaysian food!), 'Raya And The Last Dragon' is set in the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together in harmony.
But when sinister monsters known as the Druun threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity.
But mow, 500 years later, those same monsters have returned and it’s up to a lone warrior named Raya to track down the last dragon in order to finally stop the Druun for good.
Sounds pretty interesting, right? Not only does the story sounds amazing, it looks pretty darn good too, judging by the first movie still released by Disney recently:
Written by a Malaysian
And if you didn't know already, 'Raya And The Last Dragon' is written by a fellow talented Malaysian.
, who also co-wrote the highly successful 'Crazy Rich Asians' movie, announced in 2018 that she was working on an untitled Disney project.
One year later, Lim took the stage took at the D23 expo together with producer Osnat Shurer (who produced 'Moana') and the movie's actors Awkwafina and Cassandra Steele to officially announce 'Raya & The Last Dragon'.
Disney has since roped in Kelly Marie Tran to voice Raya.
'Raya And The Last Dragon' is tentatively set to hit cinemas in March 2021, and we honestly can't wait!
Go and support our fellow Malaysian when the movie comes out, OK?
