Anime Fans, Rejoice! A New 'Slam Dunk' Movie Is Officially Coming In 2022
If you grew up watching animes in your teens, you've most probably stumbled upon basketball anime series 'Slam Dunk'.

The anime about a group of misfits trying to win the national basketball championship became an instant classic, captivating millions of fans around the world.

And if you're trying to recapture the 'Slam Dunk' magic, this piece of news will be music to your ears.

Get ready to jam!

The boys are back.
'Slam Dunk' is reportedly set to return with a brand new movie next year, Comicbook.com reported.

The new movie will reportedly be written and directed Takehiko Inoue, the genius behind the popular manga that sold a whopping 157 million copies - making it the 8th best selling manga of all-time.

While there's no mention on what the storyline would be -- or if the likes of Sakuragi Hanamichi, Rukawa Kaede and the rest of the Shohoku basketball team will be back for the movie -- Inoue did release a teaser trailer featuring a list of the movie’s contributing producers and animators.

The movie also got their first teaser poster, which was tweeted by the film's official Twitter account on Monday (16 August):

According to Crunchyroll, Daiki Nakazawa of 'Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods' fame will contribute as the film’s CG director.

Yasuyuki Ebara, who worked on popular anime series 'Attack on Titan' will reportedly serve as the animation director and character designer for the movie.

Inoue first made the announcement in January, more than 20 years since the last episode aired in 1996

Prior to this, there were four other 'Slam Dunk' movies, which were released between 1994 and 1995.

We really can't wait for this movie to be released!
