It has been awhile since we last heard about the sort-of daredevil show Fear Factor. This was the very show that tested the contestant’s ability to overcome their greatest fears and at the same time, made us feel very squirmish and uncomfortable at home.

You’d be lying if you said Fear Factor didn’t get your heart palpating violently as you nervously tried watching the show with your hands over your eyes, especially challenges involving eating unimaginable creatures or bugs.

Thank God, those days are over, right? Well, not anymore.

Nope, nope. Just nope.
After being cancelled five years ago on May 2012, Fear Factor is making a comeback – and it’s making some big changes along the way.

First off, your familiar host – Joe Rogan won’t be hosting the show anymore, he’ll be replaced by Fast and Furious star Ludacris instead.

Not only that, the actor and rapper will also act as the executive producer for the show.

Will Ludacris help skyrocket 'Fear Factor' to new heights?
“I am excited to kick off my partnership with MTV, starting with the relaunch of Fear Factor, which will be even more insane and ludicrous than what you remember,” he told US entertainment website Hollywood Reporter.

According to the website, the 12-episode reboot will air on MTV on 30 May.

No word on whether it will be aired on the same day in Malaysia as of yet.

If you’re expecting to see some gross-out challenges in this revival, well, the bad news is, those days are long gone as new formats and stunts will reportedly be introduced soon.

The challenges will fit today’s culture and generation and will be inspired by urban legends, scary movies, and online videos from the zeitgeist.

You can look forward to watching challenges where contestants will have to couch surf at 300 feet above the ground and soaking their personal cellphones.

Now, that does sound like something a millennial will be really afraid of!

What other challenges do you think we’ll see in this rebooted Fear Factor? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section!
