Almost everyone knows The Lion King; it doesn’t matter if you’re 10, 32, or 63 years old, it’s a well-known Disney classic that has captured the hearts of Disney fans all over the world. And admit it, you know all the words to Hakuna Matata.
If you’re a true-blue Disney fan, you would've noticed by now a recurring trend with Disney movies, almost every of its animated classics is adapted into a live-action remake. Well it looks like The Lion King will also be joining that bandwagon soon.
On Thursday, Disney dropped one of the biggest bombs on The Lion King live action remake – its list of cast members. Coming soon in the summer of 2019, the live adaptation will star a roaring list of Hollywood A-listers – Donald Glover as Simba and Beyoncé Knowles as Nala! The news was also shared on Beyoncé’s official Facebook page.
Since Beyoncé is also known as Queen Bey among her fans, they were naturally thrilled to hear the news as it seemed to be a perfect match. A real-life ‘queen’ starring as a lion queen? Obviously, she’d nail the part.
The Lion King remake will be directed by Jon Favreau and will also star James Earl Jones who reprises his role as Mufasa from the original 1994 movie, Seth Rogan as Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner as Timon.
We just can’t wait to see how the live-action remake will turn out! With its power cast, we’re sure it’s going to be the next paw-some box-office hit from Disney.
The Lion King is set to premiere in cinemas on 19 July 2019.
