Musical biopics are making a comeback full force in recent years, like 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which has been nominated for multiple awards, including 'Best Picture' at the Academy Awards.
After the film centering Queen and the band's frontman Freddie Mercury, this year, fans will get to see a story about one of the world's best-selling music artists from England, Elton John
Sir Elton Hercules John (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight) would no doubt be a good character to portray on-screen, but we didn't expect Taron Egerton
to be playing the iconic figure.
The young, hunky actor, best known as 'Eggsy' in the 'Kingsman' movies, transforms into a different kind of man starring as John in the upcoming biopic, 'Rocketman
Not only that, the 29-year-old will actually be singing in the film!
As seen in the newly-released teaser trailer, Egerton sings "Your Song", one of the tunes that made John famous.
In fact, he personally performed all the songs in the movie, including more familiar hits like "Bennie and the Jets", "Tiny Dancer" and more. Some reports noted that he sang live on set!
The singer himself sang praises of Egerton's vocal talent
saying, "I don't think I've ever heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron".
So, if you love Elton John, you'll want to see this film.
'Rocketman' covers the musician's humble upbringing outside London, his early singing days, his partnership with Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell), his rise to stardom, his struggles with cocaine addiction, and his challenges as a gay star in the 1970s.
We'll also get to see John's signature flashy fashion on Egerton in the biopic, one that many fans of both the singer and actor will appreciate a lot.
'Rocketman' is slated for worldwide release this 31 May.
