Just when we thought that the biggest K-pop boyband today couldn't get any bigger, they proved us wrong.
BTS may have a chance to vote in the Grammys!
The South Korean pop sensation has been invited to be a member of the Recording Academy
, which is responsible for the annual Grammy Awards.
According to Reuters
, the seven-member group is among the 1,300 artists, writers and industry professionals who received the membership invitation this week.
Their special invitation is a move by the Recording Academy to diversify the institution that selects the music business' highest honours each year.
If they accept this membership, they will be eligible to vote for the Grammy Awards next year.
BTS has been around since but 2013, but they finally broke into the United States in 2017 and topped international music charts all around.
They also became the first Korean music group to win a Billboard music award.
Looking at their growing footprint in the international music industry, the band made another big mark after their album “Love Yourself: Tear” was nominated at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
The group made their first appearance as presenters at the ceremony in February.
Besides the band, their big boss Bang Shi Hyuk of Big Hit Entertainment was also invited to participate as a professional member, which is usually extended to music executives, managers, publicists, agents, and more that support the artists.
