Some ladies in the world can only fantasize about being crowned as a beauty queen but for Kiran Jassal, it is now a reality and in spite of her tender age, she is the winner of Miss Universe Malaysia 2016. Although the young 20-year-old wanted to join the pageant, she only did it after much support and persuasion from her mother.

Now that she is crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2016, her schedule is packed with speech classes, cat walk training, practice for Q&As, drills, physical training, events, meetings and more. There is a lot of preparation involved but Kiran is a keen learner. She grew up in Subang Jaya and is the youngest in her family of four. Fun fact: Kiran was trained in classical harmonium for nine years from the age of seven and became active in public speaking to overcome her stage fright. She has dreams of one day running her own orthodontic practice. So not only is this girl stunning, she is undoubtedly intelligent.

On the day of the interview, Kiran walked in with a beaming smile and was more than prepared to answer anything thrown her way. With composure befitting the title, Kiran is refined and composed – with a girl-next-door demeanor and vibe that made our discussions very engaging.

Her pageant experience has always been great, as the girls (competing) have always been very accommodating and sweet towards her, even helping her with her catwalk abilities (no catfights whatsoever). “I’ve learnt so much since starting the competition and I have seen myself grow so much in ways that I didn’t think was possible and that is very exciting for me!” mentions Kiran. Miss Universe is a great platform to polish different skills and pick up new ones, while meeting many ladies from all over the globe.

When asked who she would trade lives with, she said Emma Watson as the actress "balances education and celebrity brilliantly". She believes a day in Emma Watson’s life would be exhilarating and that she would have the facility to learn new things that could change lives.
