Microsoft Set To Permanently Close All Physical Stores Worldwide

Get ready for more online communication and transactions you guys.

Microsoft recently announced that they would be closing down all their physical retail locations including their Microsoft Store outlets worldwide.

No more physical stores.

According to a report in Mothership quoting USA Today, the decision was made due to a strategic change in its retail operations.

Changing up responsibilities and roles

Customer buying patterns are changing.

The report said the retail team of the company will now offer sales, training and support from both its Microsoft corporate facilities and remotely.

Additionally, the company will invest in its digital stores on Microsoft.com as well as stores on Xbox and Windows.

“Our sales have grown online as our product portfolio has evolved to largely digital offerings, and our talented team has proven success serving customers beyond any physical location.

“We are grateful to our Microsoft Store customers and we look forward to continuing to serve them online and with our retail sales team at Microsoft corporate locations,” said Microsoft Corporate Vice President David Porter in a press release.

Microsoft has 82 Microsoft Store outlets, with a majority of them located in the United States.
