Nasyid Group Rabithah Releases ‘Halal’ Version Of Blackpink, Selena Gomez’s “Ice Cream” Hit Song

Love Blackpink and Selena Gomez’s racy single ‘Ice Cream’ but think it’s a little too sexy?

If yes, a halal version of the song is available thanks to Malaysian nasyid group Rabithah.

Malay Mail reported that the group, which consist of Mahdi, Ayman, Ridwan, and Hakim, collaborated with singer Fitri Haris to deliver a cover with entirely different lyrics revolving around religiosity and God.

Concerned about children singing the "sexy version"

The idea for the halal song came about when the nasyid group discovered inappropriate lyrics in the original song.

“Lately, the original version of this song has been going viral and trending at number one on YouTube and other online platforms.

“When we found out there were explicit and inappropriate metaphors in this song, we took the initiative to make a cover and change the content for the better so it can be an alternative form of entertainment for young people,” the group wrote on the video’s description.

This is not the first time the quartet have changed an original song.

Last year, they changed the lyrics to Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s "Senorita"
as they had said they were disappointed to see kids “singing along to the song’s (suggestive) lyrics without feeling guilty.”

If you haven’t heard their version of "Ice Cream" yet, have a listen and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
