Last week, a local fashion designer became a hot topic among netizens for all the wrong reasons after organising a fashion show that allegedly didn’t comply with the COVID-19 SOPs
set by the government.
The designer in question, Leeyanarahman, was criticised heavily after most guests were seen not wearing facemasks and not practising social distancing.
What infuriated netizens further is when one of the co-founders made a distasteful joke, even go so far as to admitting that there were no SOPs during the event and there will probably be a new cluster named after it.
After the whole hoo-ha, PDRM said in a statement that they are looking for the parties involved in the fashion show.
According to Utusan Malaysia
, Deputy Chief Police of Petaling Jaya District Superintendent Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood says that upon checking the footage from the event that went viral, it was found that all guests had defied the SOPs.
“Our investigations show that the event organiser had uploaded a series of photos from the fashion show which had about 50 or so guests,” Ku Mashariman said.
“Guests were also seen not wearing facemasks and there were no social distancing. This has breached the SOPs implemented by the National Security Council throughout the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).”
The deputy added that the police will also be making checks on their MySejahtera app for attendance.
Leeyanarahman's Glorious Raya Fashion Show took place on 24 March in Damansara Perdana and was attended by guests ranging from local celebrities, influencers, to fashion enthusiasts.
The fashion label has apologised for the incident and admitted that they were negligent despite taking preventive measures and complying with the SOPs set.
Let's this be a lesson to all. Always make sure that you're complying to the SOPs set by the government.
