Handling a crocodile can be a daunting task, and to be honest, a dangerous job as well.
However, for Mohammad Rizal Manoor, it's just a normal day at work.
Clip went massively viral
Mohammad Rizal, who works as a caretaker at the Taman Buaya dan Rekreasi Melaka (TBRM), has become an instant online celebrity when a video of him scolding a crocodile went viral on social media.
In the short video uploaded onto his TikTok account @bedamau
, Mohammad Rizal can be seen cleaning a crocodile enclosure with one of the scary-looking creatures observing him.
As he got closer to the 800kg reptile, the crocodile opened its jaws and for a split moment, it looked like it would attack Mohammad Rizal.
Instead of screaming like a little girl and running out the enclosure like we definitely would in that situation, a calm and collected Mohammad Rizal looked up and scolded the animal.
Mohammad Rizal then continued sweeping the enclosure while the crocodile looked on, probably feeling a little bit sad because kena marah
Here's the video:
The video has since been viewed more than four million times on the social media site.
Just being playful
Netizens who watched video was surprised by how calm Mohammad Rizal was when cleaning the crocodile enclosure, but he told Malay Mail
that he's already become accustomed to the male salt-water crocodile named Aris.
In fact, no other crocodile caretaker are allowed to clean Aris' enclosure other than Mohammad Rizal.
"That’s just his way of teasing or playing around because previously, I would always play around with him and that’s just how he would react.
"But during that day, I don’t have the time to play with him because I’ve a lot of work to do. That’s why I scold him," he was quoted as saying.
According to Muhammad Rizal, Aris has been calling TBRM home since 1993, when he was caught by wildlife and national park rangers after a flash flood near the Melaka River.
Aris has since become the fiercest croc in the park, he added.
"Whenever someone tries to open his cage, Aris quickly rushes to the door, he will be on standby there.
“If you come to his enclosure, you can see a broken steel ladder. That was Aris’s doing. He will bite almost anything in front of him, be it a rock, or even a water pump," he told Malay Mail
Despite that, Mohammad Rizal admitted that he has had several close calls with the aggressive reptiles, including an incident where he was forced to take a one-month leave after being hit by the tail of one of the crocodiles there.
This is definitely not a job for the faint hearted, so awesome job over there, Muhammad Rizal!
