Rumours that some 13 ministers have been infected with COVID-19 has been making its rounds on social media.
However, the related ministers have came out to deny the allegations with some (actually just one lah) asking for their "privacy to be respected".
Following that, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have issued a caution to the public against spreading such rumours.
Action can be taken
A Bernama report quoting MCMC’s statement said the commission warned that it could take stern action under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the offence.
“The MCMC hereby warns the public against spreading false news and to always be wary of the spread of dubious information and news,” it said.
The Commission added that the public could verify any information or news items at Sebenarnya.my portal or its Telegram app https://t.me/sebenarnyamy .
