Taiping was declared a red zone three days ago, and the numbers don’t seem to be on the downward trend.
As of 18 October, 79 new COVID-19 cases had been detected in the area in the last 14 days.
In total, 93 COVID-19 cases have been detected in Taiping since the pandemic began.
According to data released by the Perak State Health Department, currently, there are 9 yellow zones where new cases have been detected in the last 14 days in Perak.
The areas are: Selama (3), Kuala Kurau (1) , Parit Buntar (9), Lekir (11), Pasir Salak (2), Durian Sebatang (1), Hutan Melintang (3), Pengkalan Hulu (6), Ipoh (5).
Concerted efforts needed to bring down numbers
In total, the state has recorded 123 new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days.
We hope numbers will go down soon.
After all, Perak was one of the first states to be declared a green zone following the first wave of the outbreak.
Stay vigilant everyone. Follow the SOPs, practice good cough and sneeze etiquette, sanitise and wash your hands often.
Together we can flatten that curve again!
