If you need a reminder on just how fast and scary the the rate of coronavirus infection is, all you need to do is take a look at the 1 Utama mall cluster.
Dubbed the Utama Cluster, the Health Ministry has revealed that it is now the biggest COVID-19 cluster in Selangor, with a total of 194 positive cases at the time of writing:
In fact, the virus has spread so fast and so wide, the infection is now several generations deep.
Crazy fast infection
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said during his daily press briefing on Tuesday (21 October) that the Utama Cluster has crossed into sixth-generation infection.
Despite early detection and thorough sanitisation, the first generation infectants who were in the mall has since returned home and spread the virus to those close to them even before they were aware that they were infected.
“But when you get the infection in the mall, then you return to your home, then you start to infect your family, your friends and etc now the infection has actually involved into six generations.
“Those who were in the mall, are probably first-generation, but those coming back home and infecting others, it’s already leading to six generations,” he was quoted by Malay Mail
However, Dr Noor Hisham revealed that the authorities managed to trace the infection cases in Selangor thanks to the MySejahtera app.
“But the good thing about the infection (cases) in Selangor is that 90 per cent of the infection, we know the cluster.
"So we know the cluster using MySejahtera, we can trace them. Whether they are in Selangor or even out of Selangor,” he was further quoted as saying.
Now that you know just how scary the infection is, always remember to check in using the MySejahtera app, OK?
