It has been quite worrying to see COVID-19 numbers significantly increased in the Klang Valley recently.
What's the root of the infection chain though?
The answer may be your office.
According to a report by Bernama
, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that COVID-19 cases in the Klang Valley were mostly related to the workplace.
A converging point for businesses
"This is because Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya are the focal point of workers. The population density in these states is also one of the risk factors behind the increasing rate of infection or transmission of COVID-19,” he said.
He added that out of 162 active clusters in the area, 72 of them were linked to workplaces.
He also urged employers to play a more active part in combating the spread of COVID-19.
"Among the factors behind the surge in cases at workplaces are crowded accommodation, personal hygiene and the living and working environment.
He also said that it was important for employers to educate their staff on personal hygiene and ensuring that they follow all the SOPs provided by the ministry.
