We are still in the midst of battling the COVID-19 pandemic, so it's a good idea to stay where you are and celebrate Christmas and the New Year at home.
But if you really must travel, then it's best that you plan ahead.
The golden hours
Plus Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has released their Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to help holiday-goers plan their journey so that they don't get stuck in an hours-long jam.
This is especially important for those travelling on the North-South Expressway (NSE) between 22 December and 19 January 2021, as PLUS expects an increase of up to 30 per cent traffic, or 1.7 million vehicles, daily.
New Straits Times, quoting a statement from PLUS' managing director Datuk Azman Ismail, said that the best time to enter the highway for those heading out of the Klang Valley to Penang, Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Johor is
before 9am.
The same goes for those travelling into the Klang Valley: the best time to enter the highway is before 9am.
However, those who are heading to destinations closer to Klang Valley are advised to enter the highway after the peak travelling time, around
12 noon, Azmad said.
Here's the full advisory if you need a little visual:
Now that you know when's the best time to travel, it is now time for you to plan, because like they say: 'if you fail to plan, you plan to fail'.
Happy travelling, guys, and stay safe out there!
