'Hello, has the exam started?'

Earlier this week, the government has decided to reopen all schools in Malaysia.

After almost eight months away from school, there's no doubt that some school children are excited to see their friends again.

This female elephant included, apparently.

A surprise visit

A short video clip showing a female elephant wandering around in a primary school in Perak has gone viral on social media.

According to The New Straits Times, the gentle giant was spotted in the compound of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) RPS Kemar in Gerik last Tuesday.

Looking for her classroom?
Perak Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Yusoff Shariff told the daily that the female elephant, aged between 30 and 35, wandered into the school after damaging an electric fence.

(Side note: why does a school have an electric fence?!)

According to a Facebook post, a group of elephants has been spotted wandering around the school in search of food, and this female elephant somehow managed to make it inside the school.

Thankfully, no one and no elephant was harmed in the incident.

Yusoff told the daily that Perhilitan staff was sent to fix the fence, which was installed last November, as well as to increase the voltage on the charger to 9.1.

They also installed blue lights around the fence to scare off wild elephants, he added.

Here's the video of the incident:

We're just glad the elephant is safe.
