A giant statue of a Buddhist goddess in Japan is currently donning a custom-made mask on her face, thanks to the effort of workers at the site.
According to a report by Reuters the act of covering the face of goddess Kannon known as the Goddess of Mercy, was meant as a prayer to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report also quoted Reuters as saying that four workers took three hours to put on the mask.
Hoping for an end to the pandemic
The mask is made from pink net fabric and measures 4.1 meters by 5.3 meters. It weighs 35 kg.
Temple manager Takaomi Horigane told Reuters that the statue will continue donning the mask until the COVID-19 situation is under control in Japan.
Let’s hope that it will be over soon!
