Sigh, when will we ever learn?
We've read plenty of stories of how some Malaysians knowingly violate the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government, and in the end, they tested positive for COVID-19.
You can add this case into the list.
Not a very happy birthday
What was supposed to be a joyous birthday celebration for a man in Sabah turned into a nightmare after he tested positive for COVID-19.
According to New Straits Times
, the man is believed to have contracted the virus after celebrating his birthday at his home in Balung, Tawau on 12 June.
The man's family had reportedly gathered at his home and threw him a party to celebrate the occassion, and a few days later, the man reportedly developed syptoms.
He took a COVID-19 test at the Apas Balung health clinic three days later, and the result came out positive.
One thing led to another, and he's now reportedly the index case of Serudung Baru cluster, Sabah COVID-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun told the daily.
Masidi revealed that close contact screening was done on 20 June, and nine more party guests tested positive.
"To date, nine more positive cases have been recorded, bringing the cumulative total total for the cluster to 19," Masidi said in a statement quoted by NST
Well, we guess they can now extend his birthday celebrations in quarantine.
For the rest of us, do remember to stay at home and avoid large gatherings. This case is a prime example of how a minute of happiness can turn into (hopefully not) a lifetime of suffering.
