Malaysia's very own Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has made Malaysia proud again.

The Ipoh-born actress will reportedly be conferred France's most prestigious and the highest civilian honour – The National Order of the Legion of Honour (Legion d’Honneur).

She will be awarded with the Commandeur (Commander) rank during a ceremony which coincides with French President Francois Hollande's visit to Malaysia.

The ceremony is set to take place at the French ambassador’s official residence on Tuesday evening.

Yeoh isn’t the first Malaysian to be awarded the Commander title, though. It has previously been awarded to the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin when he was the 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agung, and AirAsia group CEO, Tan Sri Tony Fernandez.

There are a total of five ranks in the National Order of the Legion of Honour – Chevalier (Knight), Officier (Officer), Commandeur (Commander), Grand Officier (Grand Officer) and lastly, the highest title of them all, Grand Croix (Grand Cross).

Napoleon Bonaparte first introduced the honorary ranks in 1802, which aims to celebrate and give recognition to French natives or foreigners for their exemplary contribution to France or noble causes supported by the country.

Commander of the Legion of Honour is the highest accolade the French government can award to a non-French citizen.

The Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star was previously awarded the Knight title in 2007, and later the Officer title in 2012.

Apart from being well known for her roles in several Hollywood blockbuster hits, she is also known for her charity work.

In 2016, she was appointed as the ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme, in which she helps raise awareness to end poverty in all forms by 2030, according to the Sustainable Development Goals.

So, not only is she kicking butts in movies, she's also helping to put an end to some of the world's greatest social problems.

What an inspirational badass!
