Last night, the government announced the new petrol price for the week of 30 March to 5 April.
And there's a reason for Malaysians to celebrate as petrol prices went down by RM0.17 for RON95 (RM2.13), RM0.19 for RON97 (RM2.41) and RM0.09 for diesel (RM2.11).
The new system kicked off last night after the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism decided to implement a weekly system instead of the previous monthly system.
A few days ago, there were reports that motorists living in urban area will enjoy petrol discounts under the new weekly system. The discount is said to be for promotional purposes, which was proposed by petrol station operators.
However, we have not seen any petrol stations giving out promotions apart from the newly announced price so far.
Perhaps the discounts will be offered in the following weeks as petrol station operators will need to get approval from the ministry beforehand.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
So, since the petrol prices have gone down, this weekend looks like a good time to go for a road trip!
