If you’re thinking of driving into the middle of KL for your favourite Sunday brunch this weekend, you might want to consider taking the LRT and MRT instead.
There will be quite a number of road closures and detours happening this Sunday in light of the Standard Chartered Marathon 2017.
The two major highways affected are The
Ampang-KL Elevated Highway (AKLEH), which will be closed from 1.30am to 10.30am, and the
Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) between 2.30am and 11.30am.
Other roads affected include
Jalan Raja along Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Damansara, and parts of the
MRR2, which will start from 4am until 11.30am.
To accommodate the road closures, the trains leading to the city centre will begin operating from 2am onwards.
The public can also utilise up to 14
alternative routes to go into KL, including Jalan Syed Putra, Jalan Bukit Bintang along Lot 10 and Jalan Tun Razak.
If you’re on Waze, your friendly voice navigation should be able to direct you to these roads.
City Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Nadzri Hussain told
The Star around 350 traffic officers will be deployed to help in traffic control.

And to the 30,000 runners participating, props to you for waking up early on a Sunday morning and all the best to you!
