Good news for Malaysian football fans!
Our national football team has advanced three spots in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday.
Harimau Malaya is now ranked 155th among 206 countries.
According to FIFA, our national team accumulated 148 points
although we haven’t played any official international matches in the past two months.
The last game played in March resulted in a goalless draw against the Philippines.
This new ranking places Malaysia as the fourth highest Southeast Asian team
, behind Vietnam (131), Thailand (127) and the Philippines (126).
Additionally, Malaysia has also moved up two rankings to the 27th spot among the Asian Football Confederation (CFC) nations
in the previous update announced at the beginning of May.
The Harimau Malaya will stand a chance to improve their ranking if they win the match against Lebanon at the 2019 Asian Cup qualifying match
on 13 June.
So in the spirit of Ola Bola
, let's all wish the team good luck!
