If you’re not a fruit or vegetable lover, you’re among the 80 per cent of not-so-healthy Malaysians
who feel the same way.
No matter how many marathons you join or how much weight you lift, an unhealthy diet that doesn’t include colourful fruits and vegetables on your plate will just put all those blood, sweat and tears to waste.
The Health Ministry is noticing this worrying trend which is just going to lead to very unpleasant overall health reports
. Many diseases happen due to malfunctioning of cells caused by a lack of nutrition like vitamins and minerals.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam said in a Bernama
report that eating habits that place more importance in fruit and vegetable intake can help reduce obesity and avoid lifestyle-related diseases, such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
Besides urging the majority of Malaysians who are practising healthy eating habits, it is also important to cultivate this practice from a young age.
Hence, the Healthy Ministry is working together with the Education Ministry and Parent-Teacher Association to educate mothers with young children on healthy food preparation practices
as part of the Kem Nak Sihat ‘Bersama Komuniti Kekal Sihat’
(Creating a Healthy Community Together) programme.
‘Kem Nak Sihat
’ is an initiative designed for the community to deliver information related to a healthy lifestyle.
So, for those of you who are picky eaters, you know what you should do now!
