Everybody loves discounts, no matter how small they are.
If you're a Malaysian of Hokkien descent, there's some good news for you: you'll get to enjoy a 10 per cent discount
when you purchase Proton cars.
The CEO of the local carmaker, Li Chunrong, reportedly made the announcement during a dinner session with local Hokkien businessmen last Friday, according to Chinese daily Nanyang Siang Pau
Under the discount scheme, members of Chinese guilds under the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia - an umbrella body for almost 200 guilds in the country - will be eligible for a five to ten per cent discount on Proton's entire range.
Li was quoted by the daily as saying that Malaysians of Fujian origin "will enjoy our most preferential prices ever".
According to the daily, this special discount will only run until 31 March.
Those who are interested would reportedly have to undergo a strict vetting process to ensure that they are qualified for the offer.
So, if you're Hokkien and you're looking to buy your first car, you know where to go.
