For her hard work, she received a cash prize of AUD5,000 (RM14,835) and a trophy in the awards ceremony that took place at Sydney's International Convention Centre on Thursday.
According to The Star Online, Shalini works in an Australian publishing house called Text Publishing Co where she, together with her colleagues, created a mentorship programme to discover and develop the work of emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers in the country.
