It's getting too hot over here and our bodies literally cannot take it anymore.
And apparently, this is going to last for a while.
According to New Straits Times
, this unbearable heatwave we are currently experiencing may last until the end of March or even the beginning of April.
Not only that, the outdoor temperatures are expected to reach 38°C
. That's higher than a human being's normal body temperature!
The Meteorological Department’s National Weather and Geophysics Operations Centre director Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip explained that this could happen due to hot and dry conditions
that usually come at the end of the northeast monsoon
Malaysian states in the northern region, such as Perlis, Kedah and Perak are also expected to hit 38°C even though temperatures in those areas normally range between 32°C and 34°C.
In case you didn't notice, you can feel the drastic difference even if it is a single degree Celcius.
"Since it’s only the end of February, we may have to brace for two more months of hot weather before there is some relief, with increased showers nationwide during the inter-monsoon period at the end of April," Dr Mohd Hisham said.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the peak of the weather temperatures will occur between 2pm and 4pm, while i Sabah, between 1pm and 3pm.
The public is also advised to get weather updates from the Meteorological Department's official website
, MetMalaysia's social media
or the myCuaca app.
Basically, try to stay indoors during those times to avoid turning into roast chicken and drink plenty of water during this period!
