Contrary to popular belief, it looks like more and more people are listening to radio nowadays.
A survey conducted by GfK Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) in Peninsular Malaysia revealed that Astro Radio network has registered an increase in its weekly listenership.
Based on the results, a total of 15.7 million
(or 77.2 per cent of the total radio listeners in Malaysia) listens to 11 Astro Radio brands each week.
Astro Radio network’s number one Malay station, ERA
, has increased its weekly listeners to 6.5 million, while SINAR
, Malaysia's second-largest radio station, increased the number of its weekly listeners to 5.2 million.
Chinese stations MY
has increased the number of its weekly listeners to 5.2 million while MELODY
’s listeners have increased to 1.2 million.
Tamil radio station RAAGA
, also saw an increase in listenership to 1.6 million.
It's safe to say that radio is not dead; it's growing stronger day by day.
