If you love pizza and you love durian, here's some good news for you.
A clever Malaysian has decided to cash in on our love for pizza and durian by introducing something we Malaysians would die for: the Durian Pizza.
Durian Pizza is actually the creative brainchild of 54-year-old Kamaruddin Abdul Kadir, better known as Pak Din.
According to a report in Bernama
, Pak Din had just started selling the special Pizza last week and the response thus far has been super encouraging.
Pak Din told the news agency that the idea of creating a durian pizza came to him one night when he was buying durians for his children.
"Because they had slept, I opened the durians to avoid them from turning sour and it crossed my mind that I should put the contents on a pizza bread.
"It turns out that pizza breads and durians are a match made in heaven! I also tried with a durian kampung
but it didn’t go well with the bread due to its somewhat bitter taste which was off-putting,” he said.
Pak Din, who hails from Duyong, told the news agency that he uses the 101 variety in his pizza due to its consistent sweetness and adds cheddar, parmesan and mozzarella to maintain the authenticity of the durian taste.
The peculiar pizza was so well received, he reportedly cashed in RM1,000 in sales in just three days.
We wonder if Pak Din does delivery? 'Cos we want some of that durian pizza right now.
