Guess it's okay to be a little paranoid these days.

The novel coronavirus outbreak has got everyone around the world on high alert.

In Malaysia, steps and safety measures are being taken to contain those who are affected, but in reality, there are a lot of worried Malaysians who can’t help but overthink and panic.

Some have even brought up concerns about the possibility of the virus spreading through parcels shipped from China.

It may seem like a joke, but it’s no laughing matter, especially since our Health Ministry has come out with preventive measures when handling goods from China.
It's no longer a joke, guys.
In a post on their Facebook page, the ministry advised Malaysians to use tissues soaked in hand sanitiser or soap to wipe down parcels or items that arrive from the country.

Doing so will sanitise the items the statement said.

Although there is no known scientific evidence to show that the coronavirus can live on a surface for a long period of time, the ministry is not taking chances and therefore recommending the preventive measure.

So Malaysians, better be safe than sorry! Perhaps you should wear gloves and a mask while doing so too.

Alternatively, you could also stop buying things from China for the time being and buy local instead.
