Local Artists Create Malaysia's Own Version Of 'Mount Rushmore' In Terengganu

There's a new tourist attraction in town.

Mount Rushmore is a pretty famous landmark in the US.

It features the faces of former US Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln carved into the side of a mountain.

Not to be outdone, we now have our own version of Mount Rushmore too (although it's not carved into a bukit or something).

Took almost a month to complete

The Kuala Terengganu City Council recently unveiled the mural portraits of the country's seven prime ministers.

According to Bernama, the portraits were painted on the wall of a building that houses the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall.

The mural reportedly costs RM30,000 and it's part of the state council's project to beautify old buildings around the state and turn them into tourist attractions.

The artists and their masterpiece.
The portraits of the prime ministers were drawn by four very talented Malaysians: Zulkarnain Abd Latif, 40; Wan Ansri Nizam Wan Ismail, 37; Raja Badruddin Hakim Shah Raja Kamarul Bahrin, 34 and Mohd Fahmi Abdullah Sani, 30.

Raja Badruddin Hakim Shah told the news agency that they started working on the mural portraits on 9 January and finished on 4 February.

In fact, Raja Badruddin, also known as Ku Bad, told Bernama that the four of them would sometimes paint the mural until very late into the night after office hours.

Well, guess their hard work paid off, because the portraits look awesome!
