Locked in the loo

Covid-19 has got everyone on the edge and we've been reading about all sorts of unusual behaviour.

Panic buying, spreading of a LOT of false information and people going to extreme measures to protect themselves.

Right along that extreme line is a Lithuanian man who actually locked his wife in their bathroom because he feared that she had contracted the virus!

Hopping mad!

According to a report in Philippine Daily Inquirer quoting the Daily Mail, the helpless wife had to call the police after getting locked in by her spouse.

The husband, when questioned by authorities, said that he decided to lock the woman in after being advised by doctors on how to avoid being infected.

Apparently, he was being cautious because his wife had met with a Chinese woman who recently travelled to Italy.

After follow-up tests, the wife tested negative for the disease.

If we were the husband, we'd lock ourselves in the bathroom just to escape her wrath!

Proper way to protect yourself

As for protecting yourself from Covid-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends these measures:

  • Wash your hand frequently with soap and water.

  • Maintain social distancing. Keep at least a metre away from someone who is coughing or sneezing.

  • Avoid touching your eyes nose and mouth.

  • Practice respiratory hygiene i.e. covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.
