Malaysian universities have been in the limelight recently due to their international rankings and recognition.
In their latest feat, three Malaysian public institutions of higher learning have been listed among the world's best universities under fifty years of age.
That's an impressive achievement, right?
Breaking into the list
According to a report by Malay Mail
, the 2021 edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds' (QS) Top 50 Under 50 Rankings placed Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)
, Universiti Teknologi Petronas
and Universiti Utara Malaysia
in the list.
UPM achieved the highest ranking of the three, occupying the 10th spot, making it the first time the university has broken into the top ten of the list.
Universiti Teknologi Petronas was placed within the 61-70 band and Universiti Utara Malaysia, meanwhile, is in the 81-90 band.

In case you're wondering, Singapore's Nanyang Technological University retains its spot as number one in the list, while the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology were placed second and third respectively.
Australia became the country with the most universities making the list with nine of its universities ranked.
