It may not look like it, but Malaysia is one of the best countries in the world to start a small company.
And we have a report to prove it!
One of the best
Startup Genome, an organisation that helps governments accelerate its startup ecosystem, has placed Malaysia very high in their Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2020 (GSER 2020), which ranks countries with the best emerging startup ecosystems.
Get this: Malaysia is placed in the top 10 when it comes to performance
of their startup ecosystem, and in the top 20 in emerging ecosystem talents
The report also revealed that Kuala Lumpur is the ideal location for a bew startup company to thrive, due to its relatively low cost, talent, high quality of living, fast-tracked visas and tremendous support from the government.
That's not too shabby, right?
According to a report in Mashable SEA
, quoting Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO Surina Shukri, the reason for the ranking was related to the local startup founders’ entrepreneurial vigour and ecosystem players’ sharpness.
“We will not rest on our laurels and will remain steadfast in propelling Malaysia’s startup ecosystem to attain global recognition in the economic epicentres of every continent,” she was quoted as saying.
Startup Genome's Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2020 (GSER 2020) assesses startup ecosystems across 100 countries and puts them into a top 30 list.
With Malaysia ranking so high in the list, we hope to see more enterprising startups in the country soon.
